How to Apply for PM Surya Ghar Yojana Online: Step-by-Step

PM Surya Ghar subsidy is applied for online, by the consumer, on the national rooftop portal at pmsuryaghar.gov.in - not by the installer on your behalf. The vendor's job is feasibility, installation and DISCOM liaisoning; the account and bank details must be yours. Here is the whole flow.

Before you start: what to keep ready

• Your electricity bill - you need the consumer number and the DISCOM name (Torrent Power, UGVCL, MGVCL or PGVCL).
• A mobile number linked to that connection for OTP verification.
• Bank account details and a cancelled cheque - the subsidy is credited directly to this account.
• Property ownership proof and, for shared buildings, society consent for roof use.

The official six-step application process

1. Register on the portal - select your state (Gujarat), your DISCOM, then enter your consumer number, mobile number and email.
2. Log in and submit the rooftop application - enter the sanctioned load, the system capacity you want, and pick a registered vendor from the portal list.
3. Wait for DISCOM feasibility approval - the utility checks whether your connection and transformer can take the proposed capacity. Do not pay for material before this clears.
4. Get the system installed by the registered vendor using DCR-compliant modules.
5. Submit plant details and apply for net metering - the DISCOM inspects, installs a bi-directional meter and issues the commissioning certificate.
6. Submit bank details and the cancelled cheque on the portal after commissioning. The subsidy is then credited to your account, typically within a few weeks.

• Non-DCR modules - imported modules without domestic content certification are not eligible.
• Vendor not registered on the portal for your DISCOM area.

• Installing before feasibility approval, which can force rework or forfeit the claim.
