Net Metering & PM Surya Ghar Subsidy Assistance

The paperwork half of a solar project, handled properly - portal registration, DISCOM feasibility, net metering agreement, bi-directional meter installation, inspection and the ₹78,000 subsidy claim.

Who this is for

  • Anyone installing rooftop solar who does not want to chase forms
  • Homeowners whose subsidy claim has been rejected or stalled
  • Owners of installed systems still waiting for a net meter
  • Housing societies needing common-area metering sorted
  • Buyers unsure whether they fall under Torrent Power or a state DISCOM

What the service includes

  • Consumer number and DISCOM verification from your bill
  • National rooftop portal registration and application
  • Technical feasibility follow-up with the DISCOM
  • Vendor documentation, DCR certificate and test reports
  • Net metering application and agreement execution
  • Bi-directional meter coordination and inspection attendance
  • Commissioning certificate follow-up
  • Subsidy claim filing with bank details and cancelled cheque

Two separate processes people often confuse

A rooftop solar project has two parallel approval tracks, and mixing them up is the most common cause of a stalled subsidy. Net metering is your DISCOM's process: it makes it legal and metered for your system to export to the grid. Subsidy is the central government's PM Surya Ghar process, run through the national rooftop portal, which credits up to ₹78,000 to your bank account. Net metering commissioning has to happen for the subsidy claim to complete - but they are different applications, with different documents and different offices.

The order that actually works

  1. Register on the portal with your consumer number and select your DISCOM correctly.
  2. Apply for technical feasibility - and wait for approval before any material is ordered or paid for.
  3. Install using a portal-registered vendor and DCR-compliant modules; non-DCR modules disqualify the claim.
  4. Apply for net metering, submitting plant details, test reports and installation documents.
  5. Execute the net metering agreement with the DISCOM.
  6. Bi-directional meter installation and inspection.
  7. Commissioning certificate issued by the DISCOM.
  8. Submit the subsidy claim with bank account details and a cancelled cheque; the amount is credited directly to you.

Which DISCOM are you on?

Ahmedabad urban consumers are typically served by Torrent Power, while Gandhinagar, Kalol, Mehsana and much of North Gujarat sit with UGVCL, and the Vadodara region with MGVCL. Service-area boundaries do not follow city limits neatly, so we verify the DISCOM from the header and consumer number on your latest bill before filing anything - an application filed to the wrong DISCOM simply stalls. Process detail is in the Ahmedabad net metering guide and the UGVCL process guide.

Documents we will need from you

  • Latest electricity bill showing the consumer number.
  • Photo ID (Aadhaar / PAN) of the connection holder.
  • Property ownership proof, or a society NOC for a shared roof.
  • Cancelled cheque or passbook page for the subsidy credit.
  • Applicant photograph and mobile number linked for OTP.

The complete checklist, including where each document is used, is in documents required for solar subsidy in Gujarat, and the portal screens are walked through step by step in how to apply online.

Why claims get rejected or delayed

Common failure points and how we prevent them
ProblemPrevention
Name mismatch between bill and bank accountVerified before filing; connection transfer advised where needed
Non-DCR modules usedOnly DCR-compliant modules supplied on subsidised projects
Capacity above sanctioned loadLoad headroom checked at survey; enhancement filed first if required
Installation done before feasibility approvalMaterial ordered only after approval
Incomplete test reports or missing certificatesFull document pack assembled at commissioning
Wrong DISCOM selected on the portalVerified from the bill header and consumer number

Already installed but stuck?

We take on standalone liaison cases: systems installed by another vendor that are still waiting for a net meter, a commissioning certificate or a subsidy credit. The first step is a document review to establish where the file actually stopped - which is frequently a missing test report or a mismatch nobody was told about. Bring what you have to our contact page and we will tell you whether it is recoverable.

For customers who buy a system from us, all of this is included in the package price - see pricing and the subsidy guide. To start, send us your bill.
