Most hesitation about rooftop solar in Ahmedabad comes down to these six worries. Where a concern is genuinely valid - like power cuts - we say so instead of selling around it.
Myth 1Solar stops working during the monsoon or on cloudy days
Reality: Output drops on heavily overcast days but does not stop - panels work on diffused light. Ahmedabad gets roughly 290–300 clear-sky days, and net metering is designed for exactly this: surplus units banked in strong months offset the weaker monsoon weeks, so your annual bill is what matters, not any single day.
Myth 2If I sell my house, my solar investment is wasted
Reality: A commissioned rooftop system is a fixed asset that raises the property's value and sells with it - buyers inherit a near-zero electricity bill. The net-meter connection is transferred to the new owner through a simple DISCOM name-change application, which we help with even years later. Systems can also be dismantled and reinstalled at a new address for a shifting charge.
Myth 3Panels need constant cleaning and heavy maintenance
Reality: There are no moving parts. Practically, panels need a water rinse once or twice a month in dusty months - 10 minutes with a hose - and a proper inspection twice a year. We include two service visits in year one and offer an AMC after that. Uncleaned panels lose 5–8% output, not their function.
Myth 4Solar won't help during a power cut
Reality: This one is partly true and worth being clear about: a standard on-grid system shuts off during a DISCOM outage for lineman safety. If backup matters to you, we install a hybrid inverter with a battery so essential circuits - lights, fans, fridge, Wi-Fi - keep running. It costs more, so we only recommend it where outages are frequent.
Myth 5The subsidy is hard to get and rarely arrives
Reality: Subsidy under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is credited directly to your bank account by the government after net-meter installation and DISCOM inspection - typically 4–8 weeks after commissioning in our projects. We file the application, upload documents and track it to credit. Nothing is routed through us.
Myth 6Rooftop solar damages the roof or leaks
Reality: Mounting is done on a ballasted or bolted galvanised structure with sealed, waterproofed penetrations, and our 5-year workmanship warranty covers leaks at those points. Panels actually shade the slab and reduce heat ingress in Gujarat summers.
Still have a doubt we haven't covered?
Ask it directly. We would rather talk you out of a system that does not suit your roof than install one you regret.
