What residential solar installation actually involves

A home solar project is far more than fixing panels to a slab. It is a small electrical plant connected to the distribution grid, and it has to satisfy your family's usage pattern, your roof's structure and your DISCOM's technical rules at the same time. Our residential scope covers all three: load and bill analysis, structural and shadow assessment, and DISCOM approval with net metering.

We start with your last electricity bill rather than your roof size. Your average monthly units tell us the generation you need; roof area only tells us what is physically possible. Sizing to the bill is what prevents the two most common mistakes we see in Ahmedabad homes - an undersized 2 kW system on a 500-unit household that barely moves the bill, and an oversized array whose exported surplus earns far less than the money spent to generate it.

System sizes most Ahmedabad homes install

Typical residential sizing by monthly bill
Monthly billUsual systemFinal cost after ₹78,000 subsidy
₹2,000 – ₹3,2003.3 kWp₹86,000
₹3,200 – ₹4,5003.85 kWp₹1,10,800
₹4,500 – ₹5,5004.4 kWp₹1,36,500

Those three package prices are our real quoted figures, not estimates - the full inclusions, exclusions and payment terms are published on our pricing page, and every line item is broken down in the quotation explained guide. Roof types we work on across Ahmedabad

  • RCC flat terraces - the most common and simplest case; ballasted or chemically anchored structures with no waterproofing damage.
  • Row-house terraces with limited area - elevated structures over water tanks or staircase mumties recover otherwise unusable space.
  • Sloped and tiled roofs - rail-and-clamp mounting following the roof pitch, with careful weather sealing.
  • Sheet-roof outhouses and parking sheds - useful when the main terrace is shaded or already occupied.
  • Society terraces for flats - needs a written roof area allotment; common-area systems for lifts and pumps are often the better first project.

How the installation runs, day by day

  1. Day 0 - consultation. Bill review, indicative sizing and a written quotation. No site visit charge, no obligation.
  2. Survey. Terrace measurement, shadow analysis, meter and sanctioned-load check, cable routing plan.
  3. Portal and DISCOM application. We file on the national rooftop portal and wait for technical feasibility before ordering material.
  4. Installation, 1–3 days. Structure, modules, inverter, DC and AC cabling, earthing and lightning protection.
  5. Net metering. Application, agreement, bi-directional meter fitting and DISCOM inspection.
  6. Commissioning and subsidy claim. Generation handover, monitoring app setup, and the ₹78,000 claim filed with your bank details.

Inside Ahmedabad municipal limits the whole cycle typically runs 12 to 15 working days; the installation timeline guide explains what usually causes delays and how to avoid them.

What happens to your electricity bill

With net metering, daytime generation runs your home directly and surplus units are exported to the grid and credited against your consumption. Most of our residential customers move from a four-figure monthly bill to fixed charges plus a small net amount, with the strong February-to-May generation months banking credits that carry the household through the monsoon. The arithmetic, with Torrent Power tariffs, is worked through in the savings and payback guide.

Warranty and service after handover

Residential systems come with the manufacturer's 25-year performance warranty on modules, 10 to 12 years product warranty, and 5 to 10 years on the inverter depending on model, plus our own workmanship cover on structure and cabling. Details are on warranty and service, and annual upkeep options are set out under solar maintenance and AMC.
