Industrial Solar Solutions for Gujarat Factories

Large-format rooftop and shed-mounted solar for manufacturing units across Ahmedabad, Sanand, Bavla, Changodar and Vatva - engineered around shift patterns, contract demand and HT metering.

Who this is for

  • Manufacturing units on the Sanand, Bavla and Changodar belts
  • Textile, engineering, pharma and plastics units in Vatva and Naroda
  • Warehouses and cold chains with large sheet roofs
  • Units on HT connections with high contract demand
  • Groups looking at captive or open-access structures alongside rooftop

What the service includes

  • Energy audit and shift-wise load curve analysis
  • Purlin and truss capacity check for sheet-roof mounting
  • High-efficiency modules with central or string inverter topology
  • HT/LT interconnection, protection relays and CT metering design
  • Fire safety, walkway and lightning protection layout
  • DISCOM approvals, net metering and inspection coordination
  • SCADA / remote monitoring with alarm reporting
  • Performance-reported O&M contract options

Industrial solar is an engineering exercise, not a product sale

On a factory roof the constraints are structural and electrical long before they are commercial. A 300 kWp array on profiled metal sheeting loads purlins that were never designed for it; a two-shift operation changes the value of every exported unit; and an HT connection brings protection, relay coordination and metering requirements that a domestic-scale installer will not have engineered before. Our industrial scope begins with an audit of all three.

We build the design around self-consumption during production hours. For a single-shift unit, generation and load overlap almost perfectly and the array can be sized close to daytime demand. For continuous-process plants, night load has to be served from the grid regardless, so the economically correct array is smaller than the roof allows - sizing to roof area rather than to load is the most expensive mistake in this segment.

Sheet-roof mounting: what we check first

  • Purlin spacing and gauge - determines the rail span and whether additional supports are required.
  • Sheet condition and remaining life - no point mounting a 25-year asset on sheeting due for replacement in three.
  • Fastener strategy - clamp-on standing-seam or non-penetrative solutions where the roof warranty must be preserved.
  • Wind uplift - Gujarat's wind zone requires uplift calculations, not generic clamp spacing.
  • Maintenance access - walkways and fall-arrest anchors so cleaning and inspection do not damage the roof.

Electrical interconnection and metering

Industrial interconnection is where projects most often stall at the DISCOM. Depending on your connection, the array may tie in at LT with the plant distribution board or at HT through a dedicated inverter transformer, with associated protection, isolation and CT/PT metering. We prepare the single-line diagram, relay settings and protection schedule for DISCOM review as part of the approval package rather than as an afterthought.

Ahmedabad city units are typically Torrent Power, while the Sanand, Bavla and Changodar belts and much of North Gujarat sit with the state DISCOMs - the net metering process differs and is covered in the Ahmedabad net metering guide and the UGVCL process guide. We confirm your DISCOM from the bill before filing anything.

Commercial structure and tax treatment

How industrial projects are usually justified
LeverWhat it does
Tariff displacementEvery self-consumed unit avoids the industrial tariff, the largest single saving
Accelerated depreciationCompresses effective capital cost for tax-paying entities
GST input creditAvailable where the plant is used for taxable business supply
Demand managementReduced grid draw in peak hours where the tariff structure rewards it
ESG and complianceDocumented renewable share for customer and lender reporting

PM Surya Ghar does not apply to industrial connections - that scheme is residential. Any proposal that shows a ₹78,000 subsidy line on a factory project is wrong, and worth treating as a warning sign about the rest of the numbers. Financing options for capital-heavy projects are outlined on solar financing.

Operations and performance accountability

Industrial arrays live in dusty environments, often near process exhausts, and soiling loss is the single biggest recoverable inefficiency. Our O&M contracts define a cleaning cycle appropriate to the site, string-level monitoring with alarm escalation, thermal inspection of junctions, and monthly reporting against the modelled generation figure. Scope detail is under solar maintenance and AMC.

Smaller commercial rooftops - offices, showrooms, schools and societies - are covered under commercial solar installation. To start an industrial assessment, book a site visit with 12 months of billing data and your roof drawings if available.
