Surat pairs very high household electricity consumption with one of India's densest textile and diamond manufacturing bases, and those two things pull a rooftop solar decision in different directions. On the residential side, air-conditioning load runs long here because the city is humid for most of the year, so monthly bills of 400 to 700 units are common in Adajan, Vesu, Pal and Piplod. Hot-dip galvanised structure, stainless hardware and properly sealed IP65 enclosures are the correct specification here, not an upgrade to be quoted separately. The second is the monsoon. South Gujarat records a much heavier and longer monsoon than North Gujarat, and Surat's annual irradiance is correspondingly lower - around 5.4 kWh/m²/day against 5.9 in the Patan belt. That does not make solar a poor investment; it makes an honest annual generation estimate essential, because a quotation that sizes on peak-season output will overstate its own payback by a wide margin.
